Discover UUM 2016; University visit
from University of Malaya Business Club (UMBC).
This year, one of the UMBC events;
Biz Trip 2016 includes university visit to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and
also Hatyai, Thailand. Before the trip, I was approached by the secretary of
their club about the program and they requested the guide from us; Management
Executive Club (MEC). Proud to be a part of UUM and also MEC’s representative,
I decided to help them by preparing the paperwork and also to be their tour
guide for that day. I was glad to say that everything went on smoothly and this
was really a good chance to promote our university which was set up solely in
management education from the very beginning of its establishment.
On that particular day, their first
stop for the 3 days and 2 nights trip was UUM. They reached Anjung Tamu UUM
(Welcome Centre) at around 10.00 a.m. where we were introduced to each other
and took some photos as well. As the appointed tour guide of the day, I guide
them to visit each and every place in Discover UUM, Chancellery, Dewan Mu'adzam
Shah, Academic Building, Sultanah Bahiyah Library as well as Student
Residential Halls. The moment when all of them were amazed by the Go-Cart
Circuit and Equine Centre which they hardly found in their own university made
me proud of the well-provided facilities in UUM. After the tour around campus,
they were brought to the meeting room in School of Economics, Finance, and
Banking for late lunch and there were some interactions between us. Before they
leave at around 2.30pm for the next destination, we had a group photo together.
This was definitely a good program and I sincerely hope that our club will also
take the same initiatives for some universities visit in future.
